Lorna of Cairo
Lorna has been dancing and teaching Egyptian style Bellydance professionally since 1996. She is the first ever Scottish bellydancer to work in Cairo (and the only current British one!). In Egypt, Lorna is currently performing at The Nile Maxim boat, Zamalek. Previously she was the first contracted dancer at the prestigious 5 star Fairmont Nile City Hotel, where she performed regularly at the oriental Bab El Nil restaurant. Prior to that Lorna was the star of the Nile Pharaoh boats from 2006. She also performs at many weddings and parties across the country and has appeared on Egyptian TV. Lorna's dance style has developed over her 10 years of being a professional performer in Cairo and internationally and teaches at festivals, workshops and private classes to pass on her 'Cairo knowledge!' As a teacher, Lorna's extensive experience has allowed her to develop a unique teaching style and her workshops ring with the gasps of 'Eureka' moments, and students typically report back that their dancing dramatically improves following the class. Lorna's workshops are highly accessible but challenging, whether you are a recent beginner, stuck in a rut, or a professional dancer seeking a fresh perspective. Visit: www.LornaofCairo.com |
Deirdre
Deirdre's been belly dancing since 1989, discovering her hips' purposes while travelling through Egypt. She qualified in Josephine Wise’s Academy of Arabic Dance (JWAAD) in London and continue to progress in Teacher Training Tribal Bellydance through Gypsy Caravan Tribal Bellydance® in Portland OR, USA, attaining Master Teacher status in 2014.
She uses her knowledge of the culture and history of the dance to underpin classes and hope to encourage all students to develop an understanding and respect and enjoyment of all styles of bellydance. Deirdre is always excited to share and teach and dance this earthy, funky, connecting dance! She is also certified in Pilates mat training and practices yoga to complement working with the core. Deirdre's teaching style is warm, friendly and fun and all leaving her class have a smile on their face and a lot more knowledge in their hips! Visit: www.hipswithattitude.co.uk |
